Error in Data
The data originally submitted to the Family Search Ancestral File v4.19, AFN: 1KF1-R6V for JOHN C JACKSON by my cousin Robert C. Jackson of Watervliet MI (and fellow descendant of Mr. Jackson, our great grandfather), contains erroneous informationon the BIRTH DATE and PLACE for John even though John's tombstone is engraved with the date Robert used, and 19th and 20th Century Federal Census records correct the place of birth. The Individual Record SHOULD show the following: Event(s):
Birth: Circa. 1815
- Commonwealth of PENNSYLVANIA
(all other on this record is essentially correct, but it should note that John's parents were born somewhere in CANADA before 1800, again according to notations in the Federal Censuses at Lake Forest, Illinois in 1860 and 1870, and at Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1880. This is further documented on Federal Census data reported by John's eldest son and namesake (my own grandfather) taken in New Windsor, New York in 1900 and 1910, and at Newburgh, New York in 1920. There is no known proof of the following, but several other descendants of the above John, tell the story that one or both of his parents carried descendancy, at least in part, of Potawatomie Native American blood and had been born and raised in the Sault Ste. Marie area of Western Ontario before they had emigrated to somewhere in Pennsylvania by ca. 1815.
Acceptance of this information and its publication should set the record straight. If there are any questions, please contact me at email@example.com. Thank you.
