“The biggest one yet” is how Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society President Ruth Caesar describes the upcoming conference at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center in Arlington, Washington. The Washington State Genealogical Society is sponsoring the annual event which is open to the public, costing $90.
The two-day conference, beginning on August 15, will feature workshops and training while focusing on the vast technological resources that professional and amateur genealogical researchers alike can employ as they seek out their ancestors.
Headlining the conference as its keynote speaker is D. Joshua Taylor, president of the Federation of Genealogical Societies. Taylor has been featured on “The Genealogy Roadshow” on PBS as well as “Who Do You Think You Are?” on NBC and TLC. He will speak during a banquet on August 15.
The conference, aiming to be accessible to both those who view family history research as a hobby as well as those who are professional genealogists, can expect two days full of teaching and learning.
The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society, established in 1985, also offers monthly meetings in addition to conferences in order to offer a place for those who have a passion for family history research to exchange tools and techniques they can use to advance their work.
