The following was received from the Society of Genealogists in London: September’s book of the month is My Ancestor was a Mormon, by Ian Waller.
Most of the early Mormon pioneers who emigrated to the USA were of British origin, while many converts never actually left the British Isles. This meant the church always had a strong base within the UK and Ian Waller’s book aims to guide researchers in finding Mormon ancestors who originated in the UK and Europe. As well as providing an overview of the history and growth of the LDS church, the book contains a comprehensive guide to Mormon records in both Britain and The United States. If you have Mormon ancestors, or are just interested in the origins of the LDS church, then this book is a very useful addition to your genealogy bookshelf. The author is a member of the LDS Church and a Fellow of the Society of Genealogists.
Throughout September, My Ancestor was a Mormon is available from the SoG bookshop at £7.19 to members of the Society, and £7.99 to non-members. Offer ends 30 September 2012.
