New acquisitions over the past month include dozens of local histories for the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Québec. Several books identifying Minnesota soldiers involved in the Dakota Conflict and two new volumes of the late P. William Filby’s series Italians to America: Lists of Passengers Arriving at U.S. Ports, 1880-1904 were also acquired. A few dozen compiled family histories (mainly United States families) are now on the shelves. New foreign books include dictionaries of names from Italy, Latin America, and Spain and community histories from Germany, Norway, and São Tomé e Principe – a Portuguese-speaking island off the coast of Central Africa.
