If you are within driving distance of Salt Lake City, I encourage you to attend RootsTech and join us in person for free training from Family History Department employees, a chance to meet with other members involved in family history callings, and an opportunity to be inspired by a community of people who understand the power of connecting the generations.
For those who are unable to make the trip, two family history calling training sessions (in addition to RootsTech conference sessions and keynote addresses) will be streamed live (see schedule).
I am excited to deliver the keynote address at RootsTech this year. I will be discussing and showing some exciting new enhancements to the FamilySearch.org website that will make connecting the generations even easier. For those not able to attend in person, my keynote address will be streamed live at RootsTech.org (login March 21 at 8:30 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time).
More information about attending RootsTech is covered in other articles in this newsletter and on a special Family History Callings webpage, but let me just mention a few things here that I think are particularly important for you to know.
Attending free training in person
The two free training classes for consultants, center directors, and indexing directors will be held once each day in conjunction with RootsTech so you can be sure not to miss them (see schedule). These sessions will cover working with Priesthood leaders, helping members receive the full blessings of the temple, and using the resources available through FamilySearch. Registration is required. More information.
Classes and devotionals
In addition to the classes and training, we will be fortunate to attend several inspiring devotionals. These will feature General Authorities and leaders of the Church like Elder Allan F. Packer of the Seventy; Elder Paul E. Koelliker of the Seventy; Elder Bradley D. Foster of the Seventy; Brother David L. Beck, Young Men General President; and Elaine S. Dalton, Young Women General President. See schedule.
Full conference pass discount
Since RootsTech is a national genealogy conference, it attracts experienced lecturers and experts on every family history topic you can imagine. To make this extra training available to more consultants, we created a special consultant discount. Use the discount code CONSULT99 and pay just $99 for the full conference. Visit the callings webpage to see the schedule and to register.
The Expo Hall at RootsTech is open for free for all. Come see what’s new in family history and talk to vendors and FamilySearch employees about the latest in technology, record collections, and much more. More information.
As you can tell, we’re pretty excited about the learning and training that will take place at RootsTech. Please consider this message as a personal invitation to be part of the conference. It is one of the highlights of our year, and I hope it becomes the same for you.
