During the month of September, the Family History Library will be hosting a number of family history classes. These classes and events are free to the public. Information about specific classes is listed below, as well as information on how to register for specific classes.
September 6: Registros civiles y parroquiales is a class for Spanish-speaking patrons and starts at 1:00 p.m.
September 6: South African Research Webinar Series. The classes include “South Africa Beginning Research,” “South Africa National Archives,” and “South Africa Records Online—FHL Collections.”
September 12: Swiss Research Series. The topics include “Beginning Swiss Research,” “Swiss Research Strategies,” “Bern Church Books Online,” and “Finding Your Swiss Ancestors in Published Genealogies.” These classes run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
September 15-19: *Ireland Research Series Webinar. Two classes will be held each day, starting at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The topics include “Jurisdictions,” “Websites,” “Emigration,” “Census and Census Substitutes,” “Civil Registration,” “Catholic Church Records,” “Church of Ireland Church Records,” “Land Records,” “Presbyterian Church Records,” and “Scotch-Irish Research.”
September 20: Boy Scout Merit Badge Workshop. September 20: *Danish Research Series Webinar. The classes include “Using Censuses on the Danish Demographical Database,” “Using Censuses on Arkivalieronline,” and “Census Records: Extracting Genealogical Information.” These classes run from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
September 20: *U. S. Immigration Research Series. The classes include “U. S. Immigration 1820–1954,” “U. S. Naturalization Records,” and “Religious Migration History.” The classes run from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
September 20: Hispanic Research Series. This series is for Spanish-speaking patrons. The classes include “Cómo buscar a mis antepasados en FamilySearch” and “Cómo buscar a mis antepasados en mi propio país.” These classes start at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
