It has been said that the only consistent thing in life is change. Life is an ongoing journey of change and discovery. In the Family History Department, things are changing, and we need to be a part of this change.
As employees and missionaries of the Family History Department, we’ve been asked to be ambassadors of change. Are you ready? Now is the time for all of us to jump onboard and be ready to be part of the change that is taking place.
Hopefully everyone has had the opportunity to receive the pamphlet produced by Human Resources and has taken part in serious discussions about what it means to be an ambassador—an ambassador of change. If you haven’t, please talk to your supervisor right away and ask about it. Get a copy of this pamphlet, and read about what you can do to be an ambassador for the Family History Department and for the Lord’s work of enabling members of the Church to identify and redeem their dead.
There are 6 important points of change we want everyone to focus on. These points include:
Change 1—Turning hearts Without technology
Change 2—The new family history center is a discovery center
Change 3—A different family history consultant
Change 4—New online and mobile family history experiences
Change 5—Change the culture for family history department employees and headquarters missionaries
Change 6—Make family history a part of Church culture
The 6 areas shown above have some exciting opportunities for each of you to influence the family history experience for literally hundreds of thousands of members—both youth and adults alike.
The brochure that you have received will provide some additional insights into the opportunities and the responsibilities you have as employees and missionaries to help be ambassadors of change. You can read some additional insights by visiting the department intranet site at fh.familysearch.org.
Remember President Howard W. Hunter’s invitation for members to experience both halves of the blessing. Each of you, as employees and Family History Department missionaries, have a unique opportunity to be a part of this effort to be ambassadors of change. We cannot drag our feet in this effort. We are ready to bring about these changes now. Let’s learn what it takes to be ambassadors of change and feel the excitement of being one of the Lord’s ambassadors.
