The Illinois State Genealogical Society (ISGS) is running The Great Illinois Genealogy Scavenger Hunt through June 30, 2011. This unique online event is a great way for family historians to get involved in a fun community effort that benefits researchers everywhere.
This virtual scavenger hunt, created by ISGS in partnership with FamilySearch, invites the public to submit their favorite Illinois genealogy resources to be included in the FamilySearch Research Wiki (http://wiki.familysearch.org). A page for each of the 102 Illinois counties and several other topics of interest to Illinois researchers are included in the FamilySearch research wiki to help provide “free family history research advice for the community, by the community.”
Scavenger Hunt Participation
Anyone who identifies and suggests a resource to be included as part of the FamilySearch research wiki between now and June 30, 2011 can enter to win prizes as part of the scavenger hunt. These resources might include original articles or links to searchable databases, websites, or other resources related to Illinois family history research. Please visit the ISGS website for a complete description of The Great Illinois Genealogy Scavenger Hunt: http://ilgensoc.org/cpage.php?pt=135.
