FamilySearch is excited to announce that this year's RootsTech will be better than ever—with more space to get around, a great tool to plan your schedule, and a fun, free concert event with Vocal Point to kick off the conference.

Bigger Venue

This year's Rootstech moves to its biggest venue yet! To accommodate the largest family history event in North America, the fourth annual conference moves to the east side of the Salt Palace in downtown Salt Lake City. Not only is the venue area larger, the classrooms are bigger, and there are more of them! Most are on the same floor, and when they are not, there are plenty of escalators to get you to classes quickly.

RootsTech conference chair Dan Martinez is looking forward to letting everyone experience all the extra space. "Last year we were just bursting at the seams," he said. "We welcome more and more people to RootsTech each year, and we needed someplace bigger to make sure everyone was comfortable and having a wonderful experience."

New Mobile App

A new mobile app for RootsTech 2014 is available now to help you plan your RootsTech experience. The mobile app will be your new best friend at the conference. With it you can:

  • Create a class schedule.
  • Find speaker information.
  • Discover exhibitor details.
  • Connect with other attendees.
  • Stay connected through social media links.

Download the RootsTech mobile app from the App Store or from Google Play. If you don't have an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, we've got you covered! Check out the web app.

Free Thursday Night Opening Social

What better way to wrap up the opening day of RootsTech than with a free concert. You may have seen Vocal Point on NBC's hit show The Sing-Off. Now the a cappella group from Brigham Young University brings their lively performance to RootsTech. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with a light dessert buffet served until 6:30 p.m., when Vocal Point takes the stage.

The opening social is a free event for registered RootsTech attendees and a guest.

"RootsTech wants to welcome attendees in the best way possible," Martinez said. "So not only are we having impressive talent and yummy treats, but we're making it free! We want everyone to help us kick off RootsTech in a fun, exciting way."
