Do you have a wiki trainer for your center? The Research Wiki is a valuable tool for researchers, and it helps to have a wiki trainer who can teach your volunteers and patrons how to use and contribute to this valuable resource.
A wiki trainer should be someone who is a quick learner and understands technology. It could even be someone who is not an expert genealogist; if you have youth consultants, they make ideal wiki trainers. After you select a trainer:
- Talk to him or her about what you would like to have on your FHC Wiki Page.
- Let him or her know about the upcoming wiki classes (also mentioned earlier in this consultant newsletter).
- Encourage the trainer to sit down with your experienced researchers to help preserve their research knowledge in the wiki.
When a wiki trainer has been selected, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with the person’s contact information so we can talk with the trainer and give him or her training on the wiki.
