Stake indexing directors want to have accurate and good reports. When you view your stake indexing reports, are you tempted just to deactivate those accounts that are inactive month after month, even year after year? Before you do so, please consider the following.
Indexers may be unable to index due to a lack of time or because of other circumstances. However, these indexers may at some point have the desire and ability to return to indexing. Perhaps all they need is additional encouragement or training. Therefore, it is very necessary that their accounts stay active. Remember that their inactivity in no way reflects on your efforts or your stake’s contribution to the work.
If there is a concern regarding these inactive accounts, please consider running reports that include only those people who are currently indexing. You can also run a non-contributor report and then take the opportunity to contact the individuals who are not currently contributing and offer your help. The purpose of the non-contributor report is to help you recognize which indexers need additional motivation, encouragement, and training. This is a very positive way to interact with these indexers and offer them the opportunity to continue indexing.
So how can you help reactivate them? Follow the example of stakes that have achieved success. View these examples for motivation and inspiration. If stake members decline to participate at this time, remember that they may feel the Spirit of Elijah in the future and have a desire to index again.
May you be blessed as you fellowship and encourage members of your stake to participate in this great endeavor!
