How do I add information to an Other Relationship in Family Tree?

In Family Tree, you can add information to Other Relationships by clicking the edit icon next to the relationship on the person page.

Before you start

Please be sure to review any sources, notes, discussions, and reason statements that have already been added about this relationship. Sources can be found on the sources tab of a person’s page, or they can be linked to relationships themselves. To see specific relationship sources, open a relationship edit menu.

Steps (website)

  1. Add and save the Other Relationship.
  2. After returning to the person page, click the Edit icon next to the Other Relationship.
  3. Click Add Event
  4. In the fields, enter as much information as you know.
  5. Click Save.
  6. If you have more dates and places to add, repeat steps 3–5 to record them.
  7. Add any sources or notes that you have. Adding the notes and sources to the person, in addition to the relationship, makes it easier for other users to see.
  8. Click X to close the screen.

Steps (mobile app)

You cannot add sources to an Other Relationship using the Family Tree mobile app. We recommend that you add the source to the person instead. If you want to also add the source to the relationship, please use the website.
