To receive support for Lexmark printers, you must hard-wire the printer with an Ethernet cable. FamilySearch centers without an available network connection must contact their FM group to obtain the cables.
To configure the printer, first find the IP address. If the IP address does not show in the top-left corner of the home screen, use the steps below to find it.
- On the home screen of the printer control panel, tap Reports.
- Tap Network Setup Page.
- See the IP address assigned by the Cisco router.
If you set up the printer in the past and recently received a different Cisco router, it has the previous router IP address information. You must change the printer network settings back to DHCP to be able to set up the IP on the new network. Use the steps below, working from the printer home screen.
- Tap Menu.
- Tap Network/Ports.
- Tap Standard Network or Network <x>.
- Tap Std Network Setup or Net <x> Setup.
- Tap TCP/IP.
- Enable DHCP, and tap ON.
- Tap Submit or the check mark.
- Wait for the new dynamic IP address. Print a new Network Setup Page report to obtain the new dynamic IP address.
When you have the current IP address, open an internet browser, and enter the IP address into the address bar. Then press Enter, and the printer setup page opens.
- From the left menu, click Settings.
- From the Network or Ports menu, click Ethernet.
- Click Set static IP address. Note: From the TCP/IP menu under the Network or Ports menu, you have the ability to change the host name to something more familiar, such as X466de. Take note that the name should not have any spaces.
- Set the static IP address of the printer. The first 9 to 18 IP addresses (depending on your router) past the gateway IP are usually reserved as static addresses. The addresses should be used for the Lexmark printers. So, for example, if the gateway IP address was 10.1.1.1, you can use the IP addresses 10.1.1.2 through 10.1.1.16 for a network printer. If the IP addresses are not available, please contact the Global Service Department network support (1-801-240-4357). Be prepared to provide the family history center gateway IP address to the support agent to allow a remote connection to the firewall.
Use the instructions below to install the Lexmark printers from the CD:

- Click the circle beside Wired Network Attach, and click Next.
- Click your printer in the list, and click Next.
- The printer installer searches your network for your printer. If it does not automatically find your printer, click Add port to manually configure it. Give it a printer name and the IP address you set.

To add a network printer port, use the steps below:
