How can I find the newest historical records on FamilySearch?

Learn which are the newest records on FamilySearch from the Collections page or from Explore Historical Images.

Steps for Browse all Collections (website)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.
  2. Click Search and then Records.
  3. In the Find a Collection area, click Browse all collections.
  4. In the list of collection titles, click the Last Updated heading twice. (If your screen is small, click Records & Last Updated. Then click Last Updated twice).
  5. The collections with the newest additions appear at the top of the list. Use filters to narrow the results.

Steps for Browse all Collections (mobile)

  1. Open the Family Tree mobile app.
  2. In the lower right of an Apple iOS device, tap the 3 lines icon. In the upper left of an Android device, tap the 3 lines icon.
  3. Tap Search Historical Records.
  4. Scroll to the Find a Collection area and tap Browse all collections.
  5. On a tablet or a small screen in landscape mode, tap Last Updated twice. On a small screen, tap Collection Title, Records, Last Updated. Then tap Last Updated twice.
  6. The collections with the newest additions appear at the top of the list. Use filters to narrow the results.

Steps for Explore Historical Images (website only)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.
  2. Click Search and then Images.
  3. In the Access billions of documents area, click View recently added images.
  4. You see the newest image sets.
  5. Above the list, on the right, click Refine Search.
  6. On the Refine Search panel, enter places, dates, and other criteria to narrow the results.
