If a source is attached to the wrong person in Family Tree, you can detach it.
Steps (website)
- Sign in to FamilySearch, and click Family Tree.
- Navigate to the details page of the person who has the source.
- Click the Sources tab.
- Click the source that you want to detach.
- Click Detach.
- Verify the information in the pop-up window, and add a reason statement.
- To confirm, click Detach.
Steps (mobile app)
In the Family Tree mobile app, you can detach a source.
- Navigate to the person page.
- Tap Sources.
- Tap the source that you want to detach.
- On the upper right, tap the 3 dots.
- Tap Detach.
- Enter a reason to detach.
- To confirm, click Detach.
Steps (Family Tree Lite)
Family Tree Lite does not display sources. Please use the full Family Tree on the FamilySearch.org website instead.
