How do I rotate a photo or document in Memories?

You can rotate most of the photos or document images that you upload to Memories.

  • If you rotate images from your Gallery or Person Page, the action affects all instances of the image in Family Tree.
  • If you rotate images with the built-in Windows Photo software, they do not show correctly in Memories.

Steps (website)

Instructions for images:

  1. Find the image in the Memories Gallery.
  2. Click the image that you want to rotate.
  3. In the upper left of the image viewer, click the icon to the right of "Tag People".
  4. Click Rotate Image Left or Rotate Image Right. Each click rotates the image a quarter turn.
  5. To keep the current orientation, click Save Image Rotation.
  6. ​Resize and reposition tags as necessary.

Instructions for PDF documents:

  1. Find and click the document in the Memories Gallery.
  2. In the upper right of the image viewer, click the double arrows icon.
  3. Click Rotate Clockwise or Rotate Counterclockwise. Each click rotates the document a quarter turn.

Steps (mobile app)

  1. Open the Family Tree or Memories app on your Android or Apple iOS device.
  2. Find and tap the image you want to rotate.
  3. In the upper right, tap the 3 dots icon.
  4. Tap Rotate Right. Each tap rotates the image a quarter turn.
