How do I rotate a photo or document in Memories?

You can rotate most of the photos and documents that you upload to Memories. If you rotate memories from your Memories Gallery or a Person Page, the action affects all instances of the memory on FamilySearch.

Steps (website)

Instructions for images:

  1. Find the image in the Memories Gallery.
  2. Click the image that you want to rotate.
  3. In the upper right of the image, click the Adjust Image icon. The icon appears as two horizontal lines with a box on each line.
  4. Click Rotate Image Left or Rotate Image Right. Each click rotates the image a quarter turn.
  5. To keep the current orientation, click Save Image Rotation.
  6. Resize and reposition tags as necessary.

Instructions for PDF documents:

  1. Find and click the document in the Memories Gallery.
  2. Click the rotate button that is typically found at the top of your PDF document.
    • Note: the appearance of PDF documents in Memories varies depending on your web browser and operating system.

Steps (mobile app)

  1. Open the Family Tree or Memories app on your Android or Apple iOS device.
  2. Find and tap the image you want to rotate.
  3. In the upper right, tap the 3 dots icon.
  4. Tap Rotate Right. Each tap rotates the image a quarter turn.
