How do I share information in Family Tree?

Share

Family Tree allows family members to work together to build a family tree. Register for a free FamilySearch account and create a tree. Invite others to do the same.

Share information about living family

Family Tree protects information about living people. If you want to share information about living family members in your tree with those living family members, create a family group tree.

If you want to limit visibility to just yourself, enter your living family into your private tree (the "FamilySearch tree").

Share information about deceased ancestors

  • Copy and share the Family Tree ID of the ancestor.
  • Send a link to the Family Tree page for a shared ancestor.
  • Send a link to a memory item.
  • Print the information, and share a copy on paper or on PDF.

Caution

Do not share your username and password with anyone. Doing so is a violation of the Terms of Use and compromises your legal privacy rights. Please review the obligations associated with using FamilySearch.org.
