How to recover my child's FamilySearch account information

FamilySearch Account: Child Account Recovery Steps:

If you created a FamilySearch account for your child, you can recover a forgotten username or reset a forgotten password by going to: www.familysearch.org. Select Sign In, and then select the Forgot username or password link.

Recovery options for your child's FamilySearch account include:

  • A mobile phone number
  • An email address

The mobile phone number or email address to use would be the one that was activated during the registration process and is directly linked to the child's account.Note: The option to use a mobile phone number for account recovery may not be available in your area.

    If your child’s account was not activated, please contact FamilySearch Support.

    Note: If you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and if you have any unmarried children under the age of 18 with a Church account that reside in your household, according to your membership record, they will display under Children Accounts in your Church account profile.

    Church Account: Child Account Recovery Steps:

    1. Sign in to account.churchofjesuschrist.org with a parent account.
    2. In the top right corner, select the parent's picture or initials and choose Account Settings.
    3. In the left panel, under Profile, click Children Accounts.
    4. Select a linked child’s Church account, which is displayed by name and username.
    5. These are the actions you can take for children in your household ages 8-18:
      1. Change the password.
      2. Change the username.
      3. Delete the account.
    6. The child can now sign in to FamilySearch.org using the Continue with Church Account option on the sign in page.

    Note: FamilySearch accounts created for a child on the site www.familysearch.org are NOT linked to your Church Account.
