Group administrators can remove someone from a family group.
If you remove someone from a group, and if that group has a family group tree, that person's tree record remains in the group tree.
Steps (website)
- On FamilySearch.org, click your name.
- Select Family Groups.
- Click the family group.
- Click the Group Members button.
- On the list of group members, find the member to remove.
- Click

- Click the Remove option.
- Click Remove.
Steps (mobile app)
- In the Family Tree mobile app, tap the 3 lines icon—lower right on Apple iOS; upper left on Android.
- Tap Family Groups.
- Find the group and tap View Group.
- Swipe the name you want to remove to the left.
- Tap Remove.
- Tap Remove again on the pop-up message.
