How do I update my FamilySearch profile?

In your FamilySearch settings, update your FamilySearch profile to change your name, contact ID, and the place where you live. Use this information to customize how you appear to other FamilySearch users and specify what should be publicly visible and what should be kept private.

Note: The Contact ID serves the same purpose as what was formerly called the "contact name." Contact IDs will no longer allow specific characters. Characters not accepted are:
^[^{}[\]?=:!@#$^&%*;()<>|~,'"/]+$

  5. Beside each heading, click Edit to make changes within that section.
  6. To change whether the place is public or private, click Edit then select "Public or Only Me."
  7. Click Save.
