Get Involved is a FamilySearch webpage and app where you can find opportunities to review names on documents indexed by a computer. In time, it will likely include opportunities to help with records in other ways as well.

To get to the Get Involved feature, go to https://www.familysearch.org and click Get Involved in the menu at the top of the screen.

What does it mean to review a name?

FamilySearch uses artificial intelligence to index records. This means that a computer reads the writing in the image and attempts to index it. Usually, the computer reads the name correctly, but sometimes it makes a mistake.

When you review a name, you check the computer's work and correct any errors that you see.

How Get Involved differs from previous indexing and reviewing activities

With Get Involved, you can focus your volunteer efforts on names and regions of the world that interest you. For example, with the activities titled Quick Name Review, Full Name Review, and Family Review, you can search for a last name and help with records where that name appears.

In this way, you could be helping with records that contain information about your own ancestors or the ancestors of your extended family.

Both the Get Involved webpage and app include a dashboard where you can see how your contributions are helping others.

Languages available

Get Involved is currently available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
