What is the portrait pedigree view in Family Tree?

In Family Tree, the portrait view displays your pedigree vertically. You and your descendants are at the bottom. Your ancestors are above you. You do not see your spouse’s ancestors.

The portrait view has several advantages:

  • You can see many generations of a family at one time.
  • You can easily follow one family line back or forward in time.
  • You can see record hints, research suggestions, and data problems.
  • You can add people, life histories, events, and facts.
  • You can copy the ID just by clicking it.

You do not see whether an ancestor is linked to other spouses unless that ancestor is occupying the tree's primary position. Then a small navigation arrow will appear inside the ancestor tile. To view tree information for a different spouse, click the navigation arrow
