Where do I find completed indexed records?

FamilySearch indexing is a volunteer transcription effort that makes valuable genealogical records freely searchable online.

When an indexing project is completed, it is published on the FamilySearch.org website. There, it helps people find records about their ancestors in two important ways:

  • People easily find historical records about their ancestors by searching on FamilySearch.org.
  • People can also find the records by using record hints that appear in FamilySearch Family Tree.

Tip: If you helped to index a record collection and want to see if it has been published, search our list of historical record collections.
