How do I invite others to the family group and be part of the Family Group Tree?

On FamilySearch Labs, click Try It under Family Group Trees.

Group administrators can send invitations by generating a link that can be sent in an email, text message, WhatsApp, or another messaging application.

Important: The invitation links to join family groups in the preview can only be used by one person. This is different from how the regular family group feature works. To invite multiple people, you need to send an email or send a link to each recipient individually.

Steps (website)

From the tree

  1. While signed into FamilySearch, switch to the family group tree that you want to invite someone to.
  2. Add all of the people that you want to invite to the tree if they are not there.
  3. At the top left of the screen, click the name of the family group tree you are in.
  4. Click Invite Family Member.
  5. Click the Invite link for the person to invite. If the person is not on the list, it means you have not yet added him or her to the family group tree.
  6. Click Copy Link. The link needed is now copied to your computer's clipboard. Paste it into a message that you will send to the recipient through email, WhatsApp, or another messaging tool.

From the group

  1. While signed into FamilySearch, click your name in the upper-right corner.
  2. Click Family Groups.
  3. Click the family group that you want to invite people to.
  4. If the group's tree does not yet contain the people you want to invite, add them and then return to the group details.
  5. Click Invite.
  6. Click the Invite link for the person to invite. If the person is not on the list, it means you have not yet added him or her to the family group tree.
  7. Click Copy Link. The link needed is now copied to your computer's clipboard. Paste it into a message that you will send to the recipient through email, WhatsApp, or another messaging tool.

  1. In the iOS version of the Family Tree mobile app, switch to the Family Group Tree that you want to invite someone to.
  2. Add all of the people that you want to invite to the tree if they are not there.
  3. At the top of the screen, tap the name of the pedigree.
  4. Find the person on the list, and tap Invite to Group.
  5. Use the options on your device to send the invitation.

From the group

  1. In the iOS version of the Family Tree mobile app, tap More.
  2. Tap Family Groups.
  3. Tap the group that you want.
  4. Tap .
  5. Find the person on the list, and tap Invite.
  6. Use the options on your device to send the invitation.
