How do I send a message to a family group?

On FamilySearch Labs, click Try It under Family Group Trees.

Go to FamilySearch Labs

During the Family Group Tree early access, we encourage group members to send messages to each other using FamilySearch Chat.

Steps (website)

From the group details

  1. On FamilySearch.org, click your name.
  2. Select Family Groups.
  3. Click the family group.
  4. Click Message Group.
  5. Enter your message.
  6. Click Send.

The messages appear in FamilySearch chat for each group member.

From the Family Group Tree

  1. While you are in the Family Group Tree, click the name of the tree, which is located in the upper-left section of the screen.
  2. Select Message Group.
  3. Enter your message.
  4. Click Send.

Steps (mobile app)

  1. In the iOS version of the Family Tree mobile app, tap More.
  2. Tap Family Groups.
  3. Tap the family group that you want.
  4. Tap .
  5. In message field, enter your message.
  6. Tap .

The messages appear in FamilySearch chat for each group member.
