Steps to suggest an idea before you sign in (website)

We welcome your suggestions for specific ways that we can improve FamilySearch.org.
Before you sign in to FamilySearch, use these steps to suggest ways to improve the website:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the home screen.
  2. Find Get Help and click Suggest an Idea.

Steps to Suggest an Idea after you sign in (website)

  1. In the upper right, click the question mark icon.
  2. In the lower right of the box that appears, click Community.
  3. Click Ask a Question.
  4. Scroll down the list of topic boxes and click Suggest an Idea.
  5. Enter a topic in the search box and press Enter on your keyboard.
    1. If you see a discussion on the topic, click to open it and add to the discussion.
    2. If you do not see a discussion on the topic, click the back arrow and continue with step 6
  6. On the right side of the screen, click New Idea.
  7. Enter a title and fill in the description field. Add tags.
  8. Click Save

Feedback buttons on FamilySearch pages (website)

Many FamilySearch screens provide an option to send feedback on the page. The Feedback buttons are good ways to offer suggestions for improvement. You can also use the Feedback buttons to report problems that you encounter as you use the website.

Look for a sideways Feedback button on the page. The button usually appears on the left side of the screen. On a few screens, it appears at the lower edge.

  1. Click Feedback
  2. Click an emoji that best fits the situation.
  3. Enter your comment.
  4. (Optional) Add your email address.
  5. Click Submit.

Steps (mobile Tree or Memories app)

  1. In the Family Tree or Memories mobile app, tap the 3 lines icon. (On iOS, look in the lower right. On Android, look in the upper left.)
  2. Tap Help.
  3. Tap Contact Us.
  4. Tap Give App Feedback.
  5. Indicate whether you authorize FamilySearch to access your account information.
  6. Enter your suggestions, questions, compliments, or problems and tap to send the email.

      Steps (Family Tree Lite)

      Sign in to Family Tree Lite. Scroll to the bottom of any page and click Feedback and support.
