Brief History

The 1st Regiment, Rhode Island Cavalry was organized at Pawtucket as 1st New England Cavalry.Afterwards it was designated as 1st Rhode Island Cavalry, It was mustered in on December 14, 1861 to March 3, 1862. It was mustered out at Baltimore, Maryland, August 3, 1865.[1]
