  • FamilySearch Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the FamilySearch Catalog.
  • Collection of New Mexico Historical Documents and books including extensive New Mexico Catholic Church records of Baptisms, Marriages, Prenuptial Investigations and deaths
  • 10 CD set of Books on Cd from Stemmons Publishing Company covering all states and England, Scotland, and Ireland
  • Over 1700 Genealogy Related books and reference materials
  • Large collection of 6000 Microfilm and microfiche. To search for available film/fiche go to FamilySearch catalog-search and choose Albuquerque New Mexico Family History Center in the drop down menu.

  • FHC Portal This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions.There are a number of Premium Websites which are available at no charge on one of the computers which are available at the center.
    These Premium Sites include:
    The 19th Century British Library Newspapers digital archives
    Access Newspaper Archives which is the world’s largest online newspaper archive
    Alexander Street Press, Civil War covering Civil War Records
    Find My Past – which is like except it focuses on the United Kingdon
    Fold3 (Formery Footnote) – contains millions of Military Historical Documents and photos
  • Historic Map Works- Library edition
    Legacy Stories- pilot program to link LegacyStories members to link to familysearch
    MyHeritage- Library Edition
    Paper Trail- 19th Century American Migration documents
  • ProQuest Obituary Listings
    World Vital Records- Access to birth, Marriage, and death records and much more.

Hardware and Equipment

  • Microfilm and Microfiche Readers, Capability to print from Microfilm or Microfiche, 5 Computers with access to Internet and premium web sites as described above.

Staff Research Specialties

William Litchman- Certified Professional Genealogist, author, and teacher with specialization in New York, New England, New Jersey, Virginia, the Midwest especially Wisconsin, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Kansas and Oklahoma, Newfoundland, and Ireland. Normally working Thursday 9AM - Noon

Ernie Tafoya- Speaks Spanish and is knowledgable in New Mexico/Mexico Genealogy and migration patterns. Normally working Friday Noon - 3 PM

Ruth Randall- Certified Genealogist and published author with specialization in African-American 19th and 20th century genealogy with particular interest in the reconstruction of the lives of former slaves. Normally working Monday 9 AM to Noon.

Gwen Brogdon- Specializes in Irish and Swedish records. Normally working Tuesday nights 6 to 9 PM


Scanning of Photographs and documents directly into FamilySearch or onto a user supplied Thumb Drive

Viewing and printing Microfilm/micofiche ordered through
