Altamont, Klamath County, Oregon GenealogyEdit This Page

The sizable active and unincorporated community is just southeast outside of Klamath Falls, and is said to have been named for Altamont, the famous racehorse. It was applied to the locality by Jay Beach, a prominent horseman. Altamont post office was in service from January 1893 to February 1902, with George W. Smith postmaster.
Census 2000 showed 19,603, but all addresses are listed as Klamath Falls.
