Castle Dale, Utah is located "on U-10 and Cottonwood Creek in Castle Valley, ten miles northeast of Ferron. The initial desire of the community was to name their town Castle Vale, but the post office listed it as Castle Dale and it was never changed. There are many castle-like geologic formations in the region." [1]

Castle Dale, Utah, which is named after the valley in which it is located, was settled in 1879. It is the county seat of Emery County, Utah.[2]
