Known Issues

Note: Parish records for Ålborg Vor Frue, Nørre Tranders, and Sønder Tranders parishes were originally filmed on the same roll of microfilm. When this microfilm was copied and divided for extraction, some of the copies were labeled with the wrong parish name. These incorrect parish names were carried over into the index. For example, several years of Nørre Tranders parish records show Ålborg Vor Frue as the event place in the index.

Always check the actual place name for events found in this index for these three parishes. Digital images of the original church records can be viewed online at no charge at the website for the Danish State Archives at www.sa.dk by setting up a free account. Viewing the records requires a Windows operating system and Java.

Question #1: Some Denmark Amts contain many more indexed female records than they do male records. How can I view the rest of the male records?
Answer #1: Records for these Amts were part of a very early extraction program before the existence of FamilySearch online. Not all records on the films were indexed. You can order films containing these records and view them at a FamilySearch Center.
