Known Issues

Question #1: I find records that show several possible spouses for a person, some of which are the same sex. How can I identify the correct spouse?
Answer #1: This index is provided by Findmypast. The names appear on the Findmypast index with the same page and volume number. The conclusion they make is that those people are married in some combination not shown in the index. The actual marriage record does not seem to be available online so verification is not possible.

Question #2: How can I verify the correctness of the information about probable spouses.
Answer #2: Without access to the actual records, it is difficult to verify. One check is to look at the records for each of the spouses listed and ensure the indexers have correctly recorded the page and volume number for each person. The page and volume number are used to match individuals. For example, if the indexed record shows page 193 but the record shows page 195, then it is unlikely the spouse information is correct.
