Hirslanden was only a civil parish, belonging to the church parish of Neumünster, a suburban church parish established in 1834 in Riesbach. Prior to 1834, it belonged to the church parish of Grossmünster in the city of Zürich. Hirslanden made use of the old Kreuzgemeinde church in Riesbach, a filial of the church parish of Grossmünster.

In 1893, Hirslanden was annexed by the city of Zürich.
