The Knoxville Iowa Family History Center is here to serve you!

The Knoxville Iowa Family History Center is now open to the public. Our hours of operation are on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm and Sundays 4:00-6:00pm.

Family History, (aka genealogy), is a very rewarding past time. The Knoxville, Iowa Family History Center is joining the ranks of local libraries and genealogy groups throughout Marion County, Iowa to provide all who want to research their family histories with access to the extensive resources that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Family History library has in Salt Lake City, Utah and beyond.

The Church has partnered with numerous genealogical organizations, broadened their database and increased their capacity to help you find the information you are looking for.  They have partnered with Ancestry, Find My Past, My Heritage and American Ancestors.  Through the Knoxville Family History Center, (FHC), and by starting a free account on Family Search, you can then gain access to free memberships to the above mentioned organizations.

The Knoxville Iowa Family History Center is available to serve members of the community free of charge. The Center is open to the public and all are encouraged to visit and let us help you find your family history!

October 7th, 2015 ~ 6:30-8:30pm ~1800 Jackson St, Knoxville, IA

The purpose of the event is a community get together for the purpose of introducing the up-dated and up-graded Family History Center to the local community.  It will feature mini-classes on Genealogy research through the LDS Church's Family Search website and it's partners, Indexing and, if you are new to genealogy, how to get started.  We will also have a class on setting up a family facebook page and another on creative ways to collect family stories.  To round out the evening, there will be a "Cultural Foods" table featuring old family recipes and a "Heritage" table with momentos from the past of local citizens. Finally, there will be a game, Genealogy Jeopardy, which promises to be great fun.  We look forward to meeting you there.
