From FamilySearch Wiki
Merrill is a former Maine plantation and now is an incorporated town to the south of the Central Aroostook townships in Aroostook County. The northwest quarter of the town was first organized as a part of the much larger Rockabema Plantation in 1846. However, after 1855 it was no longer part of Rockabema. Merrill Plantation was organized from Township Number 6 Fourth Range West of the Easterly Line of the State (T6 R4 WELS) in 1858; reorganized 1876, 1880, and 1895. It was incorporated as the Town of Merrill in 1911.
