Question #1: I am trying to view the image for an ancestor who has a camera icon by the name on the search results page. When I go to the record details page and try to view the image, I see the message “Image Not Available”. Is there a way to view this image?
Answer #1: In most of these cases the problem lies with contract issues causing restrictions to viewing the images online. If you check the catalog for the film that will be shown on the record details page, the film can often be ordered (See Ordering Microfilm or Microfiche) into a FamilySearch Center near you and viewed there.
Question #2: The image doesn't match the search results. How can I see the correct image?
Answer #2: Some images have been mislinked to the record. The correct image can often be located by noting the reference number on the record details page, then noting the reference number on the image that is linked. You can then scroll forward or backward a few images until you find the correct reference number.
Question #3: Some records have errors. Is there a way to find the correct information?
Answer #3: Some original source documents have numerous errors, such as the record keepers taping in children on the wrong page. Reviewing nearby pages may resolve the issues.
Question #4: Some records seem to be missing. Are there records missing from this collection?
Answer #4: The records for the following counties and year ranges are currently unavailable.
• Cuyahoga County Ohio, 1867-1874; 1890-1908
• Franklin County Ohio, 1885-1897
• Jefferson County Ohio, 1867-1894
• Morrow County Ohio, 1867-1908
Question #5: Some birth records from Hancock County (Film 961860, Digital Folder Number 4978861), are linked to death record images. Are these birth or death records?
Answer #5: Records that are indexed as birth records but are linked to the death record for that person, are death records. These indexed records have been incorrectly included in the birth record collection.
Question #6: In file 004978703 (Wayne County) images 66-72 the images on the right side of the page don’t match the information on the left side of the page. Where can I find the correct information?
Right side of image 66 (p4) matches left side of 69 (p2)
Right side of image 69 (p2) matches left side of 70 (p5)
Right side of image 70 (p5) matches left side of 71 (p3)
