The Plovdiv Family History Center is located within the meetinghouse of the local branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. It serves all people in Bulgaria who have the desire to trace their family trees

Center Services

Staff Research Specialties

The staff speciality is research of family history information about Bulgarians, with entirely Bulgarian origin. However, help is available also to people without Bulgarian origin. Tips on searching through municipality records, church records, finding out through family members and through the Internet.


Resources in the Local Area

Microfilms are available upon order at the center. Internet and access to specialized genealogical websites. Plovdiv also has national archive, research there is subject to fees. The local municipalities offer genealogical information such as copies of death certificates, birth certificates, lists of heirs of deceased ancestors (all subject to fees). This information in the villages is free of charge. Birth and christenings archives are available to the public in the Orthodox churches in Plovdiv and sometimes in the surrounding villages.
