Pontfadog is a village, community and ecclesiastical parish in the County Borough of Wrexham, Wales.

Before 1974 the village was in the historic county of Denbighshire and, between 1874 and 1996 in the County of Clwyd. In 1996 it became part of the modern county of County Borough of Wrexham.



The ecclesiastical parish of Pontfadog was formed on 15 April 1848, from the ancient parish of Llangollen. It comprised the whole of Glyn Traean (the townships of Cilcochwyn, Crogen Iddon, Crogen Wladys, Erwallo, Hafodgynfor, Nantygwryd, Pennant and Talygarth); and the township of Cysylltau from Llangollen Traean. However, Cysylltau returned to Llangollen in 1870.
