Known Issues

Question #1: Although it is the same locality listed in Batch M88015-3, the birthplace for the bride and/or groom (i.e., Arco Da Calheta, Calheta, Funchal, Portugal) is not consistently annotated with the marriage place of São Brás, Arco Da Calheta, Funchal, Portugal. What is the standard event place name?
Answer #1: The records associated with Batch M88015-3 have non-standard event place names for the Diocese of Funchal, Portugal, which is also Madeira Island. For example, in Standard Finder the District of Calheta is listed as;

  1. Calheta, Funchal, Portugal,
  2. Calheta, Madeira, Portugal, and
  3. Calheta, Funchal, Madeira, Portugal.

In Batch M88015-3, the marriage event place is the primary event place and is correctly indexed as São Brás, Arco da Calheta, Funchal, Portugal. The bride and groom birthplace fields are secondary event places. These fields have not yet been reviewed and upgraded to meet our quality standards. This will be done in the future when we complete the indexing and publish it as a completed collection.

Question #2: When I search for Batch Number: M88010-6, Film Number: 1154780, I find records from Brazil. What is the correct locality?
Answer #2: Batch M88010-6 and Film 1154780 are marriage records for São Lourenço, Camacha, Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal.
