History of the parish
Tøyen chapelry was created in 1907 and encompassed that part of Grønland and Petrus parishes which was bordered by Heimdalsgata, Lakkegata, Blutts gate Sars gate, Jens Bjelkes gate and Tøyengata.
When Matteus parish was discontinued in 1938, it was determined that the population in the district between Torndheimsveien, Lakkegata and Herslebs gate should belong to Tøyen chapelry. Formally the district was in Grønland parish.
