This is a quote from the Known Issues article for this collection:

The images for the Belgium Civil Registration, 1795-1920 collection have been temporarily removed from the FamilySearch website to assist with the development plans of the Belgian National Archives’ website. We apologize for the inconvenience.

In the interim, many of the records found in this collection can be viewed on microfilms through local FamilySearch family history centers worldwide.

Vanished Images: A GREAT Loss for Researchers!

The reason  given for the disappearance of ALL of the images for the Beligum Civil Registration records online is frustratingly vague.  Loss of access to these images is DEVASTATING for Belgian family history researchers as so little comparable data is available online anywhere.  FHL microfilm rental -- at $US 7.50 per roll -- can also become a critical expense for serious seekers.

Is there ANY idea when these images may be returned to the Family Search site?  Even an approximation would give us HOPE!

After 40 years of searching, I was FINALLY beginning to find my ancestral family. To have these images "yanked away" just as I began to succeed is heart-wrenching to me.  Please let us know!
