Talk:FamilySearch Indexing: Barbados—Church Records, 1637-1850, Additional HelpsEdit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
There have been numerous questions regarding the proper way to index names listed on the Baptismal records, particularly those in the early 1830's where there is no category on the image for the person's surname and that person is an adult. Some of us have been told by support NOT to enter the person's surname, but to mark it blank and to enter the surname (when given) in the both the father's surname and the mother's surname fields. However, when this is done, the arbitrators are changing them and putting the surname in the surname field of the person being Baptized and removing the surnames from both the father and the mother's surname fields. Other arbitrators leave it only in the father's surname.
We need clarification and would appreciate a definite guideline that we can ALL follow so please issue an update on this. Thank you.
