Talk:South Dakota, State Census, 1905 (FamilySearch Historical Records)Edit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
Am I in the right place?
The 1905 South Dakota State census has characteristics that are not utilized in the Web page.
The file is, in effect, a copy, card by card, of an alphabetized card file. The Family Search Web site provides, or seems to provide, an index to this file. It's too bad it only accesses names, and not things like places. In addition, the original cards provide a CARD NUMBER. If this were an access point, it would be possible to organize all members of a family together. If this message makes any sense to anybody, I would appreciate a response.
I am curious if the card numbers are specific to the county originally? I feel like the database is organize by name. A county filter would be extremely helpful!
Localities and Card Numbers
I am in the process of finding out whether FamilySearch has obtained data that could be used to create coverage table that lists localities.
Card numbers are found on some results pages. It is the last item listed in this results list from FamilySearch.
