NOTE: For a way to determine what digital records are likely to be found within a collection or how to find missing images elsewhere, see Article 56000, Using Film Notes in the Catalog to determine the content of a final browse point in Historical Records.
NOTE: Most missing records are available on microfilm. See Ordering Microfilm or Microfiche for instructions on ordering microfilm as well as finding a local FamilySearch Center where you can view the films.
Question #1: Some records are missing. Where can they be viewed?
Answer #1: See answers below for information about known missing records and their respective film numbers, if available, or alternate online location:
Alabama county browse points return messaging of “Image not available”. Until the problem is resolved, you may order Film 1533724 to view the images.
The records for the following counties are missing in the Illinois browse point and are not available: Champaign, DeWitt, Douglas, Ford, Kankakee, Macon and Saline. They are not located on Film 4181088.
There is one additional image for Itawamba County in Mississippi in the Jackson County Waypoint. Image 1 is shared with Jackson County.
There are many instances throughout the records of Virginia where it appears the records were misplaced in the indexing and the uploading of the images. For instance, the records from Prince George County, Virginia were incorrectly indexed from Princess Anne County. You will find the Prince George County records in the Princess Anne County browse point. Many other counties were affected as well. The best resource to verify correct locations will be to look at the images themselves. If you don’t find them where you would expect, check the surrounding browse points.
