About Ros Bott

I have about 15 years of experience in professional genealogical research, and I am the owner of Tracing Ancestors in the UK.

I believe that a good knowledge of history is an essential part of genealogical research, enabling the researcher to understand an ancestor's motivations, their lifestyles and how they may have been affected by external events.  I have a First Class Honours Degree in History and Literature and a Diploma in Modern History Social Research.

UK Research

I offer a fully detailed family history research service across the United Kingdom.  Where records are not accessible online, I have a wide range of contacts across the country who I sub-hire to visit local archives.  This saves you from having to contact several researchers yourself and means that I oversee the whole project, providing a good continuity in your family history research.

Local Research

I have access to several repositories in Warwickshire, which include the Warwickshire Record Office and the Shakespeare Birthplace Centre (which holds information about some Warwickshire families).  I can also visit Birmingham Archives (plus travelling expenses) to research ancestors who lived in and around the Birmingham area.

Specialist Services

Ancestral Biographies By further researching the parishes and areas where your ancestors lived, and combing this with local and national history, I can provide a written 'biography' of a specific ancestor or nuclear family, and including pictorial images.
