Messages from others

While patrolling in the Wiki, I came across a recent edit for the Naperville FHC page.  I am learning some programming for our Wiki pages and thought I'd "play" with your staff information.  I thought you might like to see this.  If it's something you would like to use, it can be switched from my sandbox to the FHC page.  Please see my sandbox page  Linda R Chappell 21:09, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

In response to your question about the collection Portugal, Aveiro, Passport Registers, 1882-1965:

What is the reasoning behind putting corrections to the WIKI pages under known issues rather than changing the text of the WIKI page?

the correction is in both wiki pages - Learn More and Known Issues

Learn More -- Image Visibility
Whenever possible, FamilySearch makes images available for all users. However, ultimate rights to view images on our website are granted by the record custodians. The Portugal, Aveiro, Passport Registers collection is available to the Family History Library, FamilySearch Centers, AND to members of the supporting organization, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The images can be viewed at a FamilySearch Center near you.

    • the operative word here is AND as opposed to OR. The images are available by ordering the Film  for viewing at a FSC.

Known Issues

Question #1: I get a message “This image is viewable to signed-in members of supporting organizations” for these records even when I am signed in. How can I view these records?
Answer #1: FamilySearch has limited rights, granted by the record custodians, to publish some images for viewing online. Images for this collection are only available for viewing to members of the supporting organization (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).

Some of these images are also available on microfilm for viewing at a FamilySearch Center; for instructions, see Ordering Microfilm or Microfiche.

If you have an LDS account and are not able to view images after signing in, it may be due to a registration problem, not an image access problem. Please call 1-866-406-1830 in the United States, or contact Patron Services at support@familysearch.org. Please include a brief description of the problem and steps taken thus far to resolve the issue.

If you have a better way to word the Image Visibility statement, please let me know ... kellimon. I never have paid attention to the wiki messaging that I have a message ... OOPS - sorry for the delay!!
