West Midlands BMDEdit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
West Midlands BMD has been in continuous operation since November 2003
The Register Offices in the county of West Midlands, England, hold the original records of births, marriages and deaths back to the start of civil registration in 1837.
The county's Family History Societies are collaborating with the local Registration Services to make the indexes to these records freely searchable via the Internet.
Although the indexes are not yet complete for all years and districts, it is intended to provide a database which will eventually cover all West Midlands births, marriages and deaths from 1837.
The Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry is the principal family history society for the counties of:
Staffordshire see Staffordshire Parishes and Staffordshire BMD
Warwickshire see Warwickshire Parishes
Worcestershire see Worcestershire Parishes
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Dudley Metropolitan Council and Walsall Council Registration Services are partners in the scheme.
Visit http://www.westmidlandsbmd.org.uk/ for searches and to view coverage tables for years for each registration of births deaths and marriages.
Successful index searches enable a printed application to be printed with rlevant detail and to be posted to the Registration service holding the original registration.
Local services offer a rapid certificate service for postal applications with a crossed cheque as payment.
Postal applications only are available.
