Brief History

The 10th Regiment, Virginia Cavalry was organized in May, 1862. The commanders were Colonels Robert A. Caskie, William B. Clement, and J. Lucius Davis; Lieutenant Colonel Zachariah S. McGruder; and Major J. Travis Rosser. [1]

The 10th Regiment was formerly called the 1st Cavalry Regiment, Wise Legion, and 8th Battalion. [1]
