Brief History

The 98th Regiment, Illinois Infantry was organized at Centralia, Illinois, and mustered in September 3, 1862.  It moved to Edgefield and had duty there until June, 1865. It mustered out June 2 and discharged at Springfield, Illinois, July 7, 1865[1].
