Parish History

Ancoats St Andrew is a chapelry or chapel of ease built in 1831 and lay within the boundary of Manchester [Our Lady, St George and St Denys] Ancient Parish.
The church in Travis Street Ancoats was founded in 1822 and closed in 1958.

Ancoats All Souls Chapelry is one of about 150 chapels comprising the whole of Manchester Parish's boundary (by 1880). The 'mother' or ancient parish of Manchester City is Manchester Our Lady, St George and St Denys Cathedral, which see (below).
